Well, it's been an eventful last few months!
First of all, Audra's
Seven Deadly
Sins concert was a big smash - she is absolutely extraordinary.
Not only does she bite off more than any mere mortal could possibly
chew, but then she excels at ALL OF IT! Listen for yourself! Here is
the
NPR
website where you can listen to a beautiful recording of
that
concert plus some other songs from her CDs. As for my new song, "My
Book," it is mistakenly omitted from the song list, however you can
find it 31 minutes into Part One of the concert. Also, note that the
credited composer/lyricist of the song is "Jake Blumenthal." Hmmm,
people have messed up my name before, but that version takes the cake.
:-)
What else? I went on a beautiful cruise of Alaska on the
Infinity,
a
Celebrity cruise ship. I would
recommend this ship to anyone - great food, great service, great
maintenance. High marks, all the way around. (One caveat: small
staterooms.) While in Alaska, we kayaked in a rain forest lake and took
a helicopter to a glacier for a trek. Also, we spent a couple of days
afterwards in the Vancouver area. Saw the amazing
Butchart Gardens,
definitely worth the trip to Victoria if you want to see the most
perfect and gargantuan versions of every flower ever known. The
tuberous begonias were insane, like heads of lettuce. Had an
amazing meal at
C Restaurant.
Rented bikes and rode the
sea wall
around
Stanley
Park. Visited the wonderful
Vancouver
Aquarium. Great time.
Still working with Tina Howe on our musical,
Hush. It's going very well, but
it's slow work, writing an original musical. We're plugging away,
though.
Vicki Clark and
I are exploring the possibility of recording a solo CD of her singing
my songs. Details to follow. (!)
That's about it, for now.
Happy summer!
XOXO
